Ellie is an associate in the family team with experience of advising clients on all issues arising from relationship breakdown. She deals with both financial and children related matters, specialising in high net worth disputes and cases with an international dimension. Ellie also specialises in advising clients on taking proactive steps to preserve their wealth, such as pre-nuptial agreements. Ellie was recently selected as one of Legal Week’s Private Client Global Elite: Ones to Watch 2018.

Having worked for the board of a FTSE 100 company and one of the UK’s leading independent institutional stockbrokers and corporate advisors, Ellie is able to give a unique and comprehensive insight into complex financial matters. She previously undertook a placement with a prestigious family law firm in Los Angeles, meaning she is well placed to support clients with her excellent working knowledge on Anglo-US family law.

Ellie has been described by a previous client as ‘on my side, always prompt, intuitive, organised and exceptionally clever’. Members of the Family Bar have also observed that ‘Ellie is a future star in the making’. Recent work highlights

  • Representing the applicant wife in divorce and financial remedy proceedings in the reported case AB v AC [2018] EWHC 1319 (Fam). Led by Stewart Leech QC and partner James Stewart, the matter was heard in the High Court following a four day final hearing and involved complex, multi-jurisdictional tax and trust issues.
  • Representing an applicant father in relation to Children Act proceedings and successfully achieving an increase in contact time for him and his two children.
  • Representing a respondent mother in protracted and highly contested divorce, financial remedy and children proceedings. The client in this case described Ellie as ‘providing strategic and practical advice that belies her number of years’ qualification’.
  • Achieving a financial settlement on behalf of the applicant wife in a case with assets worth in excess of $10 million. The wife was awarded costs in her favour as a result of discrete legal arguments ran by Ellie and led by the head of department Jane Craig.
