Clare is a commercial litigator based in our London office specialising in shipping and international trade disputes. She acts for a broad range of clients including P&I clubs, shipowners, charterers, cargo interests and banks.
She regularly advises on a wide range of dry shipping and trade disputes including those arising out of charterparties, bills of lading, sale contracts, letters of credit and ship-building contracts. She has a wealth of experience in handling cargo claims.
Clare qualified as a solicitor in 2014 and holds a first-class degree in law. She has also worked in Greece.
Recent work highlights
- Representing Banco Santander SA in proceedings before the English High Court and Court of Appeal in relation to a dispute arising under standby letters of credit - National Infrastructure Development Company Ltd v Banco Santander SA [2017] 1 Lloyd’s Rep. 361.
- Assisting clients in successfully obtaining an anti-suit injunction from the English High Court.
- Advising owner clients on a claim brought by state authorities for coral reef damage resulting from the grounding of a vessel.
- Representing owners in proceedings before the English High Court on a dispute about the correct construction of the demurrage regime in a charterparty – Gard Shipping AS v Clearlake Shipping Pte Ltd [2017] 2 Lloyd’s Rep 38.
