Profile

Alicia is an associate in the employment team based in Reading. She acts for individuals, corporate clients, and staff associations and their members, advising on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious employment law matters.

In addition to conducting employment tribunal litigation involving issues of discrimination, whistleblowing, and unfair dismissal, Alicia offers general HR support, such as drafting and reviewing handbook policies and employment contracts, managing recruitment, disciplinary and redundancy processes, and assisting with absence and performance management scenarios. She also advises individuals on the negotiation of settlement agreements and has assisted a number of clients on their response to data subject access requests.

Alicia is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association. Having joined Penningtons Manches Cooper as a trainee solicitor in 2017, she qualified in 2019. She is part of the firm’s age and socioeconomic committees.

Recent work highlights

  • Representing a housing association to raise jurisdiction and res judicata arguments and defending claims of disability discrimination and breach of contract in the employment tribunal.
  • Advising the Police Federation and its members on the merits of bringing complex whistleblowing and discrimination claims.
  • Advising employees on negotiations and litigation against major companies, including the settlement of a potential race discrimination claim against a travel organisation.
