Sportsability Day 2015 offers local schoolchildren a taste of something new at Surrey Sports Park

Surrey Sports Park once again hosted a Sportsability Day sponsored by Surrey-based Penningtons Manches LLP on Thursday 5 March, offering over 60 young people with disabilities the opportunity to try new and different sports.

Trained coaches were on hand to give taster sessions in climbing, boccia, walking basketball and football, with the assistance of Fulham Football Club. They were supported by a team of volunteers led by Penningtons Manches corporate partner Simon Bickerdike, private client associate Matthew Briggs and events executive Vicki Cozens.

The collaboration between the leading UK law firm, which has offices in Guildford and Godalming, and Surrey Sports Park is the result of a continued successful five-year partnership between the pair, with the aim of further increasing community participation in sport across Guildford and the surrounding areas.

Speaking after the Sportsability Day, Simon Bickerdike said: "It was a pleasure to be involved with yesterday's activities at Surrey Sports Park. This is a very rewarding initiative for our team of volunteers and we were delighted to see how much the children enjoyed and benefited from the occasion."

Roscoe Brown, Head of Partnerships and Sales at Surrey Sports Park, said: “It is a delight for Surrey Sports Park to be able to work alongside Penningtons Manches on yet another fantastic event.

“The Sportsability Day was an enormous success and enjoyed by all schools, coaches and volunteers. I would like to personally thank all involved for their hard work, which allowed the day to happen.

“We look forward to working together to deliver more events such as this one and making sport even more accessible to all.”
