Penningtons Manches is KEEN to support Oxford charity for disabled children and adults to have fun

KEEN Oxford, a charity that provides free social, sporting and recreational activities to children and young adults with special needs in Oxfordshire, has been selected by the staff of the Oxford office of Penningtons Manches as their charity partner until April 2016. 

The law firm aims to raise around £5,000 for KEEN over the next 12 months through activities such as sponsored runs, bake sales, pub quiz nights and raffles as well as providing volunteers and free legal advice for the charity. 

KEEN was founded in 1988 as a joint organisation of Oxford University and Oxford Brookes University. It now has around 300 volunteers who run four regular, weekly sessions during Oxford University term times for about 200 children and young adults – known as KEEN athletes - with a wide range of physical and learning disabilities. The sessions include sports activities, performing arts and social clubs for all age groups. 

The Penningtons Manches partnership programme with KEEN is run by the office’s CSR committee whose chair, solicitor Jo Windich, said: “We’re very pleased to be involved with such an amazing local charity and to be able to offer our support through fund-raising, pro bono work and volunteering. The dedication of all those involved with KEEN is inspiring.” 

Callum Campbell, KEEN coordinator, said: “We are delighted to announce that Penningtons Manches LLP has selected KEEN to be its supported charity for the next 12 months. The office has already raised over £1,500 for us through a number of fundraising activities and we're very much looking forward to working with them over the next year. We are hugely thankful to everyone at Penningtons Manches for recognising the value of our work and thank them for their generosity.”
