Penningtons continues to rise in The Legal 500 rankings

Posted: 27/09/2013

London and South East law firm Penningtons Solicitors LLP continued to rise up the rankings in the 2013 edition of The Legal 500, a leading legal profession 'bible'. Considered to be the definitive guide to UK law firms, The Legal 500 has recommended 37 of Penningtons' practice area teams as well as 44 of its lawyers individually.

The firm’s Cambridge office established in March 2012 received a number of accolades including a first tier ranking for its employment team which is regarded by clients as ‘first-class’; and a second tier ranking for its banking and finance team which is ‘highly experienced, with fair fee levels’. The office’s ‘outstanding’ corporate and commercial team is considered to be ‘excellent, responsive and very sharp’.

Penningtons’ other first tier teams are the South East corporate tax team led by the ‘knowledgeable and supportive’ Sarah Cardew; the South East clinical negligence team which has ‘sound knowledge of medical negligence and excellent client relations’; and the South East private client team led by Laura Dadswell who is recommended for her technical advice.

Other highly ranked practice areas included immigration, corporate and commercial, dispute resolution, professional discipline, Court of Protection, personal injury, travel, employment, and social housing while there was a new listing for the health and care team led by John Hargreaves.

Four of the firm’s lawyers are on the elite ‘leading lawyers’ list, The Legal 500’s guide to outstanding lawyers nationwide: Tim Tyndall, a Cambridge employment partner; Julie Burton for Court of Protection advice; Maria Riccio, a recently appointed pensions partner in the Basingstoke office; and corporate tax partner, Sarah Cardew.

Rankings are based purely on merit and reflect feedback passed to the directory by a broad cross-section of both clients and lawyers within competitor practices. As part of their analysis in the last 12 months, researchers from The Legal 500 have interviewed over 250,000 corporate counsel globally.

Penningtons’ chief executive, David Raine, is delighted with this year’s listings: “As the determining factor in achieving high rankings is the excellent feedback we have received from our clients and peers, it is very pleasing that so many of our practice areas have achieved good rankings this year.”
