As 2014 draws to an end, cosmetic surgeons are looking to the year ahead and predicting which procedures and treatments will be the most popular in 2015. It started with breast augmentations and Botox, but now there seems to be a cosmetic procedure to perfect almost every part of the body. Throughout 2014, the number of cosmetic procedures being performed has risen (the latest figures from the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons reveal Britons are spending £1 billion a year on cosmetic surgery), but the past 12 months have also seen an increase in the different types of procedures that are available – some of which have certainly been eye opening. It would seem that more people than ever are willing to pay sky-high sums for extreme forms of nips and tucks.
According to the Private Clinic in Glasgow, the demand for procedures surges at the beginning of the new year, so treatments that are most popular in January are often an indicator of trends to come over the rest of the year. Here are some of the predictions for the top cosmetic trends in 2015:
The hair transplant has probably been the fastest growing treatment during 2014 and experts are forecasting that the procedure will become increasingly popular next year. This may have been influenced by the fact that more celebrities are admitting to having undergone the procedure. The number of eyebrow transplants is likely to rise too, as women with over-plucked or thin eyebrows seek the bushier brows of the likes of Kate Middleton. Experts also predict that beards will be coming back into fashion as the number of beard transplants has risen towards the end of this year.
One of the most blood curdling cosmetic procedures to have caught the public’s attention in 2014 is the vampire facial, an anti-ageing procedure that is rapidly gaining popularity. Since Kim Kardashian underwent the procedure on her reality television programme in 2013, there has been an 800% increase in demand. The vampire facial is a treatment where a doctor uses a patient’s own blood to give the skin a more youthful appearance. The procedure itself is said to stimulate collagen and elastin to enhance skin colour and texture, as well as making fine lines and wrinkles less noticeable.
Botox was first made fashionable over a decade ago and since then it has become the nation’s favourite age-defying treatment. Botox is a drug made from a neurotoxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum called botulinum toxin. It works by temporarily paralysing muscles to eliminate wrinkles and give skin a smoother appearance. Being relatively non-invasive, it has increased in popularity and will most likely continue to do so.

Whilst surgical procedures are still very popular and are likely to remain so, it’s the non-surgical procedures that are proving to be increasingly prevalent and this trend is set to continue into 2015 and beyond.”
