New partner joins Penningtons Manches' private client team to strengthen international private wealth offering

Posted: 07/01/2019

Penningtons Manches has hired private client partner Ryan Myint into its award-winning private wealth group. Based in the London office, Ryan joins the firm from Taylor Wessing, where he was a partner in the international private client group for over eight years, including a secondment to the Singapore office from 2012 to 2015. Before joining Taylor Wessing in 2004, Ryan practised at Withers and then Clifford Chance.

Specialising in wealth structuring, trusts and succession, Ryan acts for entrepreneurs, business owners, fund managers, property developers, high profile international families, offshore trust companies and private banks. He has a strong background in advising Asian clients, as well as UK, European and Middle Eastern clients with an interest in Asia. He is recognised as an expert in his field for multi-jurisdictional tax planning, including cross-border tax reporting, disclosure and transparency issues.

Ryan will build on Penningtons Manches' existing range of international private client expertise, bringing with him extensive experience of advising on UK residency, domicile and structuring for resident non-domiciles. Other areas of specialism include governance, family constitutions and charters, asset protection, philanthropy, and advising on private client issues in corporate transactions.

In the latest edition of Chambers HNW, Ryan is recognised as ‘somebody who’s created an impressive clientele in Asia’ and interviewees comment that ‘he’s really very able to utilise his huge knowledge, especially when it comes to trusts’. He is also highlighted in the December 2017 edition of Who’s Who Legal as someone who ‘dominates the international private client space’.

Ryan’s appointment to the team follows the recent arrival of three new private client specialists: Emma McCarthy, Rebecca Goldring and Nathan Greenwood. The 60 strong team has been highly ranked in the latest editions of leading legal directories Chambers UK, Chambers High Net Worth and The Legal 500 and noted for its ‘exceptional service to clients’. Specialists in the team are commended for being ‘approachable and collaborative workers who make complex issues understandable’.

Led by Clare Archer, the team is regularly nominated for and wins industry accolades from Citywealth, eprivateclient, Legal Week and STEP. The practice featured in the 2019 edition of The Times’ ‘Best Law Firms’ report.

Commenting on Ryan’s appointment, Clare said: “Following a very successful year for both the private client team and the wider firm, we are excited to welcome Ryan in 2019. Not only does he have a wealth of experience in the sector, he’s a great fit for the team, with a skill set that will complement our existing expertise and help bolster our broader private wealth offering.”
