Penningtons Manches is lining up with the International Law Office, Lexology and Kroll as one of a group of prestigious sponsors supporting the International Bar Association's first European Start-Up Conference on Wednesday 16 November 2016.
The event will evaluate current trends in the industry; best practices in supporting the life of a start-up, from creation to funding and exit; establishing a successful start-up eco-system; and how to build an effective legal start-up practice. Delegates will hear from leading entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, dealmakers, lawyers, investment bankers and a variety of investors with first hand experiences of high profile start-up companies and deals. They will also have the opportunity to consider these issues in breakout groups and engage with lawyers who have made successful careers from working with start-ups.
Taking place at Level39 in London’s Canary Wharf, which is regarded as Europe’s largest technology accelerator for finance, retail, cyber-security and future cities technology companies, the event will open with a keynote address from Mark Little, managing director of Twitter’s activities in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and conclude with a panel of speakers from the start-up industry sharing their experiences and describing how their lawyers have helped shape their business.
Penningtons Manches corporate partner Chris Owen, who is treasurer of the IBA European Regional Forum, is one of the conference programme organisers. He commented: “As a technology focused law firm, we are heavily involved with start-ups and were able to draw on our expertise to ensure that the conference presented a comprehensive and insightful picture of the current landscape of the European start-up industry. We are very much looking forward to continuing our exploration of the challenges which the industry faces with the IBA’s guests at Level39."
