Penningtons Manches was represented by Sarah Johnson at the European Employment Lawyers Association’s annual conference held in Krakow, Poland, which was attended by several hundred European employment lawyers.
A highlight of the event was the keynote speech given by former Polish President, Lech Wałesa, on employment and industrial relations in the Communist era and the transfer to democracy. The conference also considered the contemporary concept of employment across continents with views from Europe, the United States, Brazil and Asia, together with other highly topical issues such as remuneration in the financial sector, and problems created by employees’ use of their own electronic devices for work matters. Overall, the proceedings provided an excellent opportunity to examine employment issues on a multi-jurisdictional basis and to meet employment lawyers practising in other jurisdictions, including other members of Multilaw.
