Young woman hit by motorbike wins substantial damages

Our specialist personal injury team have recently recovered damages in the sum of £70,000 for a female pedestrian who suffered multiple injuries when she was hit by a motorcycle.

At the time of the accident our client was standing on the pavement outside her home waiting to be collected by friends when, suddenly, what appeared to be an out of control motorcycle came off the road, up onto the pavement and skidded into her.

Following investigations it transpired that the cause of the accident was as a result of a car driver attempting to carry out a U-turn in the road without warning and immediately in the path of the motorcyclist, thereby forcing the motorcyclist off the road and to collide with our client.

The car driver was subsequently prosecuted for driving without due care and attention as a result of this incident. Liability was subsequently admitted for the accident by his insurers. Investigations were carried out and expert medical evidence obtained in relation to the serious upper and lower limb fractures sustained by our client. A successful resolution was achieved by way of settlement negotiations prior to the issue of court proceedings.
