Good governance at the heart: staying ahead of the changes

Event date: 04/02/21
Location: Webinar

Good governance has never been more important for social housing providers, to ensure they are able to manage the ever-changing risk landscape and deliver the essential functions of providing safe homes and effective services to residents.

Against a backdrop of a pandemic, economic recession and Brexit, the last few months have also seen key policy and legal announcements and changes which will affect what providers need to be considering when ensuring their governance arrangements remain fit for purpose.

The speakers for this event are Gemma Bell, partner in our social housing team, Rose Klemperer, senior associate in our social housing team, and Sam McGrady, director at DTP consultancy. Within this webinar, our speakers will be considering key themes arising from the Building Safety Bill, Housing Ombudsman Complaints Handling Code, Social Housing White Paper, Consumer Regulation Review and Sector Risk Profile, including:

  • Accountability – where does and should accountability sit, and how might this change in light of proposals for designated/accountable persons to be appointed under the Social Housing White Paper and Building Safety Bill, as well as the drive to be more accountable to residents?
  • Inclusivity and engagement – how can providers be building more inclusive models of governance, ensuring boards hear the customer voice, and ensuring authentic engagement from those with lived in experience?
  • Accessibility and transparency – what does best practice look like in building a truly accessible and transparent organisation?
  • Complaints – what changes should providers be considering in relation to complaints processes, responding to complaints and assessing trends arising from complaints data more widely?
  • Risk and control framework – what key risks should providers be considering and how should providers be reviewing and considering their policies, procedures and wider control framework in light of these changes?

This webinar is aimed at executive directors, chairs and heads of governance, and will run from 11.00am - 12.30pm. If you have any queries or would like to register for this event, please email Vicki Cozens or call Vicki on 01256 407161.
